I consider myself lucky to be born and raised in Southern California, to be brought up in a place primed with cultural diversity.
Even so, there was a unique insanity to growing up as a person of color in a family with a younger sister with special needs and parents that spoke less than perfect English,
which was an experience that not only reflected poorly on my grades but also shook my confidence in academia altogether.
Because of this, I came to understand that grades did not tell the whole story about me as a person and that no single datapoint could capture lessons learned from such experiences.
Instead, my situation taught me something more valuable — tenacity and resilience, which I carried with me as I traversed different fields of study and professional environments.
In learning to find my own voice in advocating for myself and my family, I also cultivated a skill for communication.
From creative writing, to bioinformatics, and to software & financial technology, I found the capacity to grow and adapt in each setting despite the challenges presented.
In doing so, I recognized my evolution through the years: from a clumsy, soft-spoken communicator to a student learning to tell stories with data, and to a working professional translating and presenting technical materials to diverse audiences.

My internal career transition at eMoney taught me to embrace the unknown because there was no support system in place to help navigate this change, which required me to learn quickly and balance a new set of responsibilities along with ones expected of me in my previous position. During my time in this role, I learned to research and resolve technical issues with our various integration partners, utilize technical knowledge to determine if reported issues were related to content, platform, or user error, report on status of known issues to appropriate management and teams, and to control communication around said issues to prevent poor customer experience and escalation.
In my role as a Data Support Analyst, I interfaced with end user clients and internal support teams to provide second level of support for account aggregation in order to ensure data efficiencies on customer and operations-based issues. From this, I learned to troubleshoot data transfer issues in SaaS environment with an emphasis on proactive customer support and to identify issues & concerns and resolve them before problems arise as to reduce friction in the customer experience.
As an Information Officer at the EIC, I performed record searches based on data request criteria by compiling detailed bibliographies, records, and other relevant data from database queries and historical documents on resources and surveys for government agencies, institutions, and individuals with clearance and worked to integrate cultural resources information on new findings and known resources into the California Historical Resources Information System within the EIC's tri-county designation.

My internship experience with SEIU 721 gave me the opportunity to engage with members in various settings as I assisted worksite organizers with their tasks in field and office. From contract negotiations, enforcement, and issue-focused organizing, I worked with individuals in local government dedicated to the importance of public service who helped me develop the leadership skills and expertise necessary in running and organizing a campaign from start to finish.

Advanced teaching/learning in Management from Oxford academics and industry entrepreneurs, focusing on practical approaches to entrepreneurial education encouraging application of creativity, awareness, and leadership.
Collaborated with other participants in the examination and analysis of market research and development case studies in the 2016 Oxford Youth Entrepreneurial Leadership Program at Mansfield College, University of Oxford. Awarded second place for business proposal delivered to a panel of Oxford business professionals, academics, and entrepreneurial practitioners
